It is time for a return of one of the most popular features on this blog. We all have funny thoughts throughout the course of our shifts. I’ve started writing mine down. Occassionally I share them. They have no cohesive theme or timeline. A server thought of them. That makes them random thoughts from a […]

I’m Sorry. I’m Still Kinda New To This
There are times in life when no response seems adequate. When through fate and circumstance you have been placed in a situation so absurd that you have no idea how to respond. At these moment’s I usually turn to my best friend to make sense of the situation. In true Deadhead form he usually responds […]

Money Saving Scams For Restaurant Guests And Owners
Did you know that you can turn your printer in to a money making machine? Simply buy a groupon and print out 100 copies (keep reading until the end of the post to find out the secret to make this work). You can use the groupon you paid for once over and over at the […]

Humility
“I know you are having fun signing books, but someone needs to take the trash out.”  “I was hanging around London doing tv I was singing my heart out for the BBC a little girl stopped me on the street, I thought to ask for my autograph and tell me I was hot she […]

Ten TV Restaurant’s Where I Want To Eat
Some of my favorite restaurants do not even exist. These are the places that serve as hangouts for television characters I’ve tuned in to watch every week. They create the atmosphere for some of television’s greatest moments and become a real part of our memories. Apart from a random trivia question, many of these restaurants […]

Using Groupons: Do’s and Don’ts
Recently, one of my favorite blogs wrote a story about the Groupon Apocalypse. This is the week before all of the groupons that have been sold for a restaurant expire. Suddenly all of the guests who bought these six months prior feel the urgent need to use them immediately. I have heard plenty of horror […]

Retro Restaurant Ads: 1980s Burger Wars
The internets are teeming with classic television ads for restaurants. Some of them are downright awful. Some have stood the test of time very well. Whether they are good or bad, they are a fun reminder of days gone by. Today I am offering a walk down memory lane. In the mid-1980s there was a […]

Rejected Restaurant Ads
A restaurant recently made headlines for offending a great number of people with a billboard that featured the phrase: “Like a cult, but with better Kool-Aid.” Â While the Jonestown reference was sorta funny in my opinion, I can see why people were offended. Â This is also why I didn’t go into advertising. Â My sense of […]
The Best of Restaurant Laughs
As part of my recognition of the “birthday†of m first blog, I am recapping each of my blogs this week in a “best of†post. Many of the posts on Restaurant Laughs originated on my tipsfortips blog before migrating to The Hospitality Formula Network. I wanted to give a peak behind the scenes and […]

Random Thoughts From a Server II
I often wonder aloud why there are so many sequels. There have to be more great stories to tell than the stories that have already been told. It seems that every successful movie becomes a franchise and is followed up by three more sequels that aren’t as good as the original. If you liked the […]

If Servers Did Not Exist
It was Voltaire who said, “If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.â€Â I stay far away from theological discussions on this blog. I did however wonder how this quote would have been different if it was written by restaurant employees. Each role in a restaurant would probably have a different […]
